Our Whiteout is the test winner
The renowned magazine ALPIN has tested various backpack models made from the highly robust material UHMWPE. Our Whiteout made it to the top of the winner's podium.

The Whiteout is a well-engineered, extremely stable, robust, and waterproof all-round backpack for many years.
In the latest edition of the ALPIN magazine (03/25), our Whiteout was named test winner. Six backpacks from different brands were tested, all with something in common: They are made from the highly tear-resistant UHMWPE material - short for “ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene”. This material is light, UV-stable, extraordinarily robust, and waterproof. We at EXPED have had backpacks made of this highly tear-resistant material in our range for a long time with the Whiteout.
Put through their paces
As ALPIN writes, they tested the backpacks used on various tours. Furthermore, they weighed all models and dragged them ten meters over cobblestones - the latter to test their durability. The surface was then examined under a microscope. After all the tests, our Whiteout 30 came out on top, particularly emphasizing its robustness. “The Whiteout is a sophisticated, very robust backpack that is still very light at 715g; the material is waterproof and EXTREMELY robust,” writes ALPIN. The waterproofness of the roll-top closure was also emphasized.
